I am very saddened to find out today that a dear wonderful man that meant a lot to my children & many many more has passed away.

Mike Chittom was a father figure to many, a driving force in Celia Clinton Elementary & spent so much time & effort elping children that might not otherwise have had anyone to help them. Blessings to you Mr. Chittom & i shall light a candle for you to light your way.

What happened to Mike Chittom? Some reports said suicide and one said stroke/aneurysm? As caring as he was to others and kids, I can't believe the suicide. The paper online is sketchy. Thanks.

So far theres been nothing released. There was an article in the 19th's Tulsa World that said a man had been found in a fire & believed to be suicide. I have a hard time buying it, he just had so much to give....
Either way it goes, Im so sad hes gone. he helped my kids personally.

Thank you, please post if you find out anything. He was special to me. I know I will never forget him and my world is totally awry since he's gone. He was always so concerned about others. Thanks again.

I'll do that. By chance, do I know who you are?
My girls went to Celia Clinton up until this past year.

No, I don't live in Tulsa, Michael and I were online friends. I live out of state but he was and will always remain my best friend. We chatted alot and shared our lives. Helped each other through bad days and happy ones and I know that the kids and his music were his world. He told me that many times. Thanks for answering my questions. I appreciate it so much. He was a very important person in my life and I'll miss him always. I wish I could have been at his memorial service. I pray that it was not suicide. That bothers me alot...I just can't see him doing that...

This is so sad, about Mike. Such a wonderful man. Mike and i were on line friend's, for 8 years. He was such a very good friend, and was here for me thru bad times i had. He was also the kind of person, that you could talk to about anything. His life certainly, was cut WAY to short. He was so talented, and loved those kids, at school. He would tell me about his musical gig's when he played, with his band. I sure miss such a wonderful man, and i will always remember him, for he was a special guy...

I met Mike online in early spring 1999. I have chatted with him all these years off and on. The last time I chatted with him was January 2008. He continually talked about the Celia Clinton School. He loved life and loved the kids at the school. He had an infectious laugh. When I needed someone to talk to, it seems that Mike was always around. We had a special friendship. I hadn't heard from him in a long time; I emailed him but it was returned. Then I decided to enter his name in the search engine and there I discovered he passed away only a couple of days after I last chatted with him. He never told me he was sick so I would be anxious to find out what happened. I am from Tennessee.
